Survey

Situated in a picturesque landscape of vineyards, heather and friendly woods, - such is the Castle of Stoitzendorf or the Piano Castle, as it is called in the region of Lower Austria.

One is tempted to say: All and everything that concerns the piano is assembled in that most charming spot of the world.

You get the
historical development of the pianos, the chance of trying out and buying carefully und perfectly restored pianos, such as BÖSENDORFER, STEINWAY or BECHSTEIN (Piano Shop), and last but not least the piano recitals, the Matinees every Sunday in August .

During the last 30 years the Lord of the Manor,
Dr. Hermann Buchner, created a real Paradise for piano fans in his castle. Dr. Buchner was apprenticed as a pianomaker at BÖSENDORFERs, and he also studied early music in the "capital of music", in the city of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Johann Strauß, in Vienna.
.
His private
collection of keyboard instruments (Clavichord, Harpsichord, Spinet, Pianoforte and others) he calls a LIVING MUSEUM. That is to say, all of the instruments are in a perfect playing condition, so you get the original sound of the works of Bach and Mozart and Schubert. Secondly, LIVING means, that the collection is continuously being enriched by buying, selling and changing instruments with other collections or private persons.
