All the pianos in Dr. Buchner’s collection and in the saleroom are completely and carefully restored.
The aim of restoring a grand piano or a pianoforte is, to achieve or rather regain the original sound of it.
So that one can listen to the music of BACH, MOZART, SCHUBERT, CHOPIN or JOHANN STRAUSS in the original sound.
A great adventure, and great experience, indeed!
The restoring works are being done by Dr. Buchner himself (and by his team).
But the great champion concerning restoring pianos in Austria is GERT HECHER.
And, I am happy to say, that GERT HECHER and the PIANO CASTLE have enjoyed a wonderful cooperation for many many years.
Among many others, Gert Hecher has restored the “Ignaz Bösendorfer” pianoforte from 1841 on the stage of the concert hall in the castle.

GERT HECHER:
In his homepage you can find a brillant essay on restoring historical pianos.
